Purpose Statement: The Louisiana Forestry Teachers' Tour allows for educational teachers, the developers of the children's mind, an opportunity to gain insight to the research, development and implementation of Louisiana's #1 agricultural crop: Timber. Through hands-on tours and one-on-one meetings with federal, state, industry and non-industrial forest personnel, informed decisions may be reached through an unbiased process. 

The 5-day workshop is a hands-on, on-the-go workshop that is fun, exciting and informative. From touring a lumber mill founded in 1890 to a state-of-the-art papermill, this tour will exposed you to practically all aspects of forestry in Louisiana. You will have a chance to see Longleaf pine, Pinus palustris, whose natural area once spread from western Louisiana to southern North Carolina. The management approaches utilized for the threatened and endangered Red-Cockaded woodpecker, Dendrocopos borealis. Also, research development areas, logging sites and product manufacturing are part of the informative tour.
