Our next stop was Office of Forestry’s Alexander State Forest where

John Martel discussed hardwood management and silviculture...

  

and how it differed from pine management

 

On to Indian Creek Recreation Area where we had a wonderful fried catfish lunch

provided by Jim Elder and Gaiennie Lumber Co.

U.S.F.S. Research Station

Our next stop was on Kisatchie National Forest for Dr. Mary Anne Sword and Eric Kueler to discuss eeo physiology and its importance in understanding how trees grow and respond to different influences.

 

The teachers were astounded by all the data that was being collected

Back to Pineville for our visit to see how paper is made at the I.P. facility with our sponsor Jack Simmons. (Sorry, no pictures allowed in the mill)

Dinner at Kenthouse - Alexandria, LA

 

 

After freshening up, we headed to Kent House for an exciting evening dinner sponsored by International Paper Co., Jack Simmons, John Dixon and John Weston
